UFC 238 AfterMMAth (Two Eyes, One Nose, One Big Mouth)

For the longest time, UFC 238 flew right under my radar. That was until they announced Cowboy Vs. Ferguson. This fight was scheduled to “save a dull card” apparently. So, I went and looked at the scheduled fights and realized that, although “The People’s Main Event” will certainly bring the buzz to Chicago, the card is full of gems as it is. I thoroughly enjoyed it for the most part.

Alright, let’s jump right to my picks. Then, we’ll chat about this, that and the other.

UFC 214 AfterMMAth (The Return Of The King)

Some cards look great on paper. Some of them disappoint come fight night. Some fizzle before our eyes, to become “average”. Others still, are made of the stuff of legend. Cards that – barring injury or other kind of craziness – you simply know, don’t have it in them to let you down.

Such a card took place in Anaheim, CA last night.

UFC 206 AfterMMAth (FOTY & KOTY?)

Hello there,

Once it was announced that the planned main event was cancelled, the interwebs exploded with disses to UFC206 “unimpressive” and “No draw” card. Were these expectations met? We’ll see about that soon enough.

First, Let’s see how my predictions went this past Saturday.

For some reason, UFC206 got a bad rep… but in actuality it is a solid card which should deliver a fun evening of fights!

Main event and co-main with fighters who can only be defined as “game”, plus a few more treats. What’s-not-ta-like?

Money Talks (Fighter’s pay, or lack there of)

Hello everyone and welcome back,

It’s been a while, I know. I have a very good reason too. I will elaborate soon with a relevant post, but for now suffice to say – I’m writing.

While my creative juices are running, I take some methodical brakes to check what’s going on in the outside world and what I see there these past couple of weeks is the motivation for this post, namely, the increase in conversation regarding fighters pay.

There’s A Lesson In There Somewhere

Good morning folks.

Somewhere, Ronda Rousey sat last night muttering “Unbelievable… I lost the title just so… Miesha Tate will now hold it?”

If you did not enjoy UFC 196, I seriously don’t know what else they can offer. It’s not about who you were behind on the fights, if you had a favorite. It’s about the beauty of this sport. The hype leads up to an event and on that event – excuse the cliché but it’s true – anything can happen. The hype can get a boost, it can die down in a silent whimper, or, as in the case of last night – it can live up to its build-up in a pretty unexpected way.
